Why See My Fair Lady?
The Rain in Spain Stays Mainly in the Plain!
Closing out Covedale center's theatrical season is Lerner and Lowe's timeless musical My Fair Lady. Based on Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, this rapturous show follows the budding friendship between Henry Higgins, a professor of phonetics, and Eliza Doolittle, the rambunctious cockney flower girl who Higgins has vowed to turn into a high society lady by teaching her 'proper English'.
Originally debuting on Broadway in 1956, and subsequently adapted for the silver screen with Audrey Hepburn, My Fair Lady is an old-fashioned, grin-inducing spectacle, that contains one classic musical number after another, from 'I Could Have Danced All Night' to 'The Rain in Spain.' This Covedale production is directed by Tim Perrino, and stars Sarah Viola as Eliza and Brent Alan Burington as Henry Higgins.
