The 97th Academy Award nominations were announced earlier today and Wicked gained an impressive 10 nominations in total.

In a live stream today, Rachel Sennot and Bowen Yang officially announced that the Wicked movie has been nominated for the following awards: Best Picture, Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, Best Make-up and Hairstyling, Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role (Ariana Grande), Achievement in Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Cynthia Erivo).

Wicked was released in November and was a box office smash, gaining $634.4 million at the box office since its release. It has already broken several records, including becoming the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation in US box office history. Wicked is the screen of adaption of the beloved stage musical by the same name which has found monumental success on Broadway, the West End, and beyond.

The 97th Oscar winners will be announced on 3 March 2025 at Ovation Hollywood.

The highly anticipated second part of Wicked will be released in November 2025.
