Originally created between 1733 and 1735, Bach's Christmas Oratorio celebrates the key events in the nativity, originally designed to be performed over multiple days.
Made up of both church and secular compositions with vocal soloists and choral sections, Bach's Christmas Oratorio was intended to be played over six days during the festive period with a day dedicated to each event in the nativity. The original programme included The Birth, The Annunciation of the Shepherds, The Circumcision and naming of Jesus, The Journey of Magi and The Adoration of the Magi.
