The Paris Opera, 1881...

Hidden in the tunnels deep below the Paris Opera resides a deformed musical genius who stalks the halls and terrorizes the company from the rafters. With his half-covered by his famous white mask, his only happiness comes from tutoring the beautiful, orphaned chorus girl Christine Daae, with whom he has an enduring obsession. Unseen, he teaches the young ingenue to sing 'The Music of the Night.' As her 'Angel of Music', Christine blossoms and steps out of the chorus line onto center stage.

When Christine becomes engaged to another man, the Phantom is driven wild with jealousy and will stop at nothing to have her for himself, even resorting to murder. And so begins a tantalizing tale of forbidden love and supernatural adventure so exciting that over 130 million people worldwide have lost their hearts and minds to the drama.

Did You Know?

To achieve the spooky atmosphere of the Phantom's underground lair, the crew use more than 500lbs of dry ice and 10 fog and smoke machines at every performance. Brrrrrr!

This phantom was different than past shows I've seen.5/8/14

May 8 2014- Just got home from seeing the Phantom of the opera in Cincinnati , It was a very good show but very different than the past shows I have seen of Broadway's Phantom. Not sure if I liked it as well. It was a good production no doubt. Singing was good but I have been to many performances and they have been phenomenal so I was a bit let down by this show. It was a great show but I have seen better broadway productions of the phantom of the opera so it was a bit disappointing to me maybe because I've seen other phantom shows that were better than tonight's . I did love the piano and fire scene that was different and I liked it I liked the flames on stage too that was cool! I would recommend seeing it though, it was a good show but I have seen better shows and so was a bit let down. The set was good but very different than any other show I've seen. The costumes were good but again better in past productions. ... Read more

Lots of sound issues and musical timing

I saw the show in Columbus, OH and it was great. Grodin is a superb Phantom, and the rest of the cast was excellent. When they came to Cincinnati (my town), I went to see it again. The performance was good - but lots of parts were sung rather fast, almost like they had better places to be. It left much to be desired. I still loved the show overall. So I took my mom for Mother's day sat. eve. She hadn't seen it since Michael Crawford played the Phantom. When we arrived, the understudy took over for the Phantom for the last week it was in town. A bit disappointing, I had talked up Grodin to her, and now felt a little stupid. BUT - When Snyder went to sing his first lines as the Phantom - nothing came out. His mic was dead!! You couldn't hear him again til they went downstairs, and when he tells Christine to "SING" he just walked off stage. Probably to fix the mic before MOTN. Smart move. But his performance was affected. After Int. he was amazing! But sound problems continued. :( ... Read more
